Disaster Preparedness for Pets - Volunteer Form

Volunteers are needed to help manage the pet friendly disaster shelter located at the Volusia County Fairgrounds. You will be required to attend a Red Cross class on shelter management and to attend orientation meetings at the fairgrounds. During an actual emergency, your duties will include overnighting at the facility.

Volunteers are also urgently needed to become members of the Animal Life Emergency Response Team (ALERT) in Volusia County. This team goes into a local disaster area to rescue lost, stranded and wounded animals. ALERT training courses are required and classes are rigorous, so you must be in excellent physical condition.
